Founded
in 1978, the Direct Selling Association of Malaysia
(DSAM) is a national trade association aimed at promoting
the direct selling industry as well as act as the de
facto voice of the industry. DSAM comprises of leading
multi level marketing and single level marketing direct
selling companies (please refer to members list attached).
Members of DSAM recorded a combined sales turnover of
more than RM2.7 billion for 2005 with a distributor
force of more than 3 million people. DSAM is a member
of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations
(WFDSA), a federation of national Direct Selling Associations
(DSAs) all over the world that subscribe to ethical
business practices.
The
WFDSA presently has over 50 national DSAs represented
in its membership, and in 2005 it is estimated that
the worldwide retail sales by its members accounted
for more than US$99 billion through the activities of
more than 54 million independent salesperson. For further

Direct
selling can best be described as the marketing of products
and services to consumers in a person to person manner,
away from permanent retail locations.
